A recent opinion piece by Robert C. Hughes, a professor of legal studies and business ethics at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, noted that workers are right to be concerned about their safety during the coronavirus pandemic, and are too important for employers to ignore by making working conditions for essential workers safe and fair. The article “Employers Must Do Right by Workers on Safety” indicated to appropriately compensate workers ( in delivery and transportation sectors) during a pandemic with hazard pay for the inevitable risks of doing socially imperative work.
